Recently attending a wedding, and then subsequently seeing the Royal Wedding on TV, I considered the meaning of “I do.”

It’s interesting that such a big commitment is not, “I’ll try” or “I’ll do my best”.

It’s simply, “I do”.

It’s the shift from engagement, to actually living the commitment.

The test of whether you’re truly committed is in what you do.

And that goes for all areas of life and business too.

Being committed to yourself (many people aren’t as committed as they say they are, or like to think they are) is about doing.

Commitment and Focus are linked too, because when you commit to something, it becomes a priority. It moves to occupy a central position in your mind, such that you take action on it.

Turning to my 8 FOCUS Principles…
1.  FOCUS on your Unique Talent – to do what you do best, what you love.
2.  FOCUS on brilliant execution in your Key Result Areas.
3.  FOCUS your resources of Time, Energy, Money.
4.  FOCUS on a few significant breakthroughs, sustained.
5.  FOCUS on the opportunities.
6.  FOCUS on the extra-ordinary.
7.  FOCUS on Simplicity.
8.  FOCUS on Purpose.

And these principles still have meaning when you replace “FOCUS on…” with “Commit to…”

They become:

1.  Commit to your Unique Talent – to do what you do best, what you love.
2.  Commit to brilliant execution in your Key Result Areas.
3.  Commit your resources of Time, Energy, Money.
4.  Commit to a few significant breakthroughs, sustained.
5.  Commit to the opportunities.
6.  Commit to the extra-ordinary.
7.  Commit to Simplicity.
8.  Commit to Purpose.

It’s not a huge leap to then make them into “I do” vows.

“Do you Commit to your Unique Talent, to doing what you do best, to doing what you love?” – I do.

And so on…

Time to take your vows?
