Why is it that people so frequently underestimate the value of their own major talents?
Many seem to take for granted that because they are particularly good at something, then everyone else must similarly be good at it.
So they often ignore the opportunities to help others because they assume others don’t need expert help.
And they undervalue that which is very valuable.
You might find you do this too…
In the case of small businesses, this can affect the pricing of goods and services dramatically. And in large corporations sometimes individual talents remain hidden for years, sometimes never emerging.
So ask yourself:
What is it that you…
1. Are Good at
2. Find easy to do
3. See easily (ie you can immediately see that doing it would enhance a situation)
4. Are constantly told that you are good at
5. Enjoy doing
6. Can’t help graduating towards (ie it doesn’t feel like work at all, in fact it’s virtually effortless).
How does this relate to a particular skill which you can sell / or are underselling at the moment?
The future belongs to those who can package these talents and turn them out into the world as a product or service from which others will derive value. Let this be the theme for the year ahead…
