The most effective users of time do so not because they know more time management techniques than everyone else, but because they approach success from a certain perspective / mindset and they use a few key tools very well.
Achieving goals relies on being focussed on a few Key Result Areas (KRAs)… on doing a few key things well on a consistent basis. And so it is essential to make sure there’s a structure in place that allows you to do just that.
I am always amazed how many people and businesses get “phased out” by the thought of creating such enabling structures on the grounds that it “Sounds complicated”. It’s not.
People also tend to get focused on the structures rather than on what they are in place to enable you to do.
In fact, the simpler the structures the better.
The sole purpose of all the structures is that they are there simply to support the actions in the key result areas.
So to set up these simple structures we must recognise that there are some common barriers people encounter. If we can remove those barriers through a simple structure, then you will have the best chance of focusing on your KRAs.
The most common barriers are:
> Time (or apparent lack of it).
> Sustainability (or lack of it).
> Procrastination.
> Overwhelm.
Enabling structures are there to ensure there’s enough “time over target” doing the things needed, to achieve the results required, to reach the goals set. And they are there to ensure this focus can be sustained over long time periods, building habits so that growth and development are maintained.
